Your wedding is incredibly important to me, and I want to make sure that you have the best experience possible so here are some frequently answered questions for you…

Booking FAQs

I think I might have left it too late to book you I am getting married soon. What is the latest booking you will accept?

Send me an email or give me a call. I tend to get booked up in advance, especially for popular dates but it’s always worth checking availability. I also have a wonderful team of recommended Hair and Makeup artists who may be available to you, even if I am not.

When should I Book My Hair and Makeup Artist?

I don’t have a calendar open / release date like other Wedding Vendors may have. I am doing this a long long time and I couldn’t ever imagine doing anything else, so I take bookings as first . When you book with me, I am devoting that date and time frame for your wedding day.

Since the Pandemic, All Wedding vendors are booking further out and faster than ever before. My advice is making sure to book ALL your favourite wedding vendors a full 1-2 years in advance.

When choosing your artist, you want to make sure they are a Bridal Hair / Makeup artist, meaning they do weddings and understand the severity of the day.

Working in this industry long enough and building up a clientele of people who know exactly who they want to use for big events like a wedding means if you don’t book in advance, it may mean you having to settle for a Hair or Makeup artist who doesn’t have the same style or methods you were looking for. This especially rings true if you are getting married during very popular times of the year.

Where in Ireland do you cover?

I cover Nationwide once travel and expenses are paid. This of course will be sent to you in your quote when you send your initial enquiry.

How Do I book with you?

A deposit is used to secure your wedding date. Without a deposit, the date may be offered to other interested parties. Any deposit paid is deducted from the final balance.

I cover Nationwide once travel and expenses are paid. This of course will be sent to you in your quote when you send your initial enquiry.

Trial costs are due on your Trial date and will be sent to you in your Trial information email when dates have been released at the start of each wedding year, again these fees are deducted from the final balance.

Accepted methods of payment are cash or bank transfer. The remaining Wedding balance is due at least one week before the wedding day, in cash or bank transfer.

What does your price include?

A full breakdown of everything and what’s included will be sent to you when booking so there should be no extra costs unless you add extra people for Hair and Makeup, or you change the wedding morning location.

If the travel time Is longer than the agreement in your booking email, then extra travel fee will be added. Other than this everything will be clearly visible in your booking email and the price will be what we agreed on your initial booking.

Will you be bringing an assistant with you on the wedding day.

If your Bridal party is more than 4 to 5 people, a super early start or depending on ceremony time. I will bring an assistant.

What happens when you cannot make it (illness, emergency)?

Should for any reason an emergency happens to come up I will be in contact immediately. I work with numerous Hair and Makeup Artists and of course I will do my very best to find you a replacement Hair and Makeup Artist who will be fully briefed to provide you with exactly the same service that you are expecting.

What happens if I need to cancel a booking with you?

You always have the right to change your mind. If you choose to cancel your wedding day booking following a trial, you will lose your deposit and trial fee but not be charged for the remainder of the services.

Trial FAQs

What is a trial?

Not to be dramatic, but your wedding day Hair and Makeup is likely to be your most photographed look of all time. Which makes your wedding Hair and Makeup trial a key date in your wedding-planning diary.

A Hair and Makeup trial is a preliminary run-through of the Wedding Day Hair & Make up look. The whole trial experience is where we set the tone for your overall Hair and Makeup look for your wedding day.

A trial is a great idea for many reasons. It will give you a chance to get to know Me and We can go through all the details for the morning.

Such as Hair and Makeup prep for yourself and your wedding Party. Timings for the day. Setting up on the Morning and what’s needed. But most importantly you will get to try out the Your Wedding Day Glam tweaking it as we go, so it can be 100% perfected for your wedding day.

When is it appropriate for me to book a trial?

I like to book the majority of my Brides in at the start of the year. I specialise in souly weddings therefore as you can imagine as wedding session kicks off the middle and towards the end of the year is my busiest time. Plus, I feel like this gives my Brides enough time between the trial and wedding day to tighten up on suggested skincare, eyelash treatments or eyebrow grooming and pick up any beauty bits I advise at your trial.

How long does a Hair and Makeup trial take?

When booking with me I send out a list of trial dates and times that are available to book with me in Two Different locations You have a choice to book with me in Dublin City Centre or Carrick on Shannon Leitrim. Set aside a couple of hours for your trial. I allow two hours for each Bride. It doesn’t often take that long but I wouldn’t want anyone to feel rushed. Also Allowing extra time means we can fine tune your look, and everything is tweaked to perfection (most importantly, to your liking)

How should I arrive the morning of my trial appointment?

I will send all this information in an email ahead of the Trial day, so you are well prepared.

But I would suggest coming with your hair already blow dried how you would usually do it, without product if possible. Of course, if you usually let it dry naturally or have curly hair, do what you usually do. I will advise what needs to be done the morning of your wedding once I see what we are working with at your trial.

Please wash your hair the night before or if necessary, on the morning of your trial. Do not arrive with dirty or wet hair.

The same for Make up a clean blank canvas is always best to work with. Please arrive wearing no makeup (especially no mascara)

What if I’m not happy with my trial?

I always allow plenty of time for your trial so that we can design your look until you are happy. I am very open and do not take offence – if you do not like something I would always rather you say at the trial, and we can redo that aspect. After all, that is what a trial is for, and you are the customer. We will not leave you until you are feeling confident and happy.

How many looks will you try at the trial?

At the trial it’s one make up look after we discuss your inspiration images in detail

with as many tweaks and adjustments as needed to get the look you have always envisioned.

Hair is a little different if you are still undecided if you want your hair up or down. I will usually trial 2 within reason. I find any more than that, then you will likely leave confused having been given too many options. I feel a bride usually knows the moment she stands up and gets a feel for the look.

Do Bridesmaids or mothers need a trial?

The short answer is that it would depend on the individual and of course your budget. Generally, a trial would relate to the bride herself and she might invite along her bridesmaids and mother to give their opinions. This being said, it is not uncommon for bridesmaids and even the mother of the bride/groom to book a trial if this is something you want to arrange email me and I’ll do my best to make plans along with your trial appointment.

How do you remember everything you have done at The Hair and Makeup Trial?

Prepare for Photos (don’t worry – no crazy photo shoots or anything) I keep a written Product list with your client file and take images on your phone. This acts as a record for the wedding morning so I know exactly what to recreate and so you can see how amazing your makeup and hair looks in photographs. It’s also a nice keepsake of some special wedding journey memories for you to look back on.

I've had my trial I loved the love but I have changed my mind as to what I want to do now...

This happens and don’t panic. I feel the trial is also about meeting me and having the confidence and trust in me that I can recreate the new look you want to do. So just get in touch, send me some images of the new look you want to do and I’ll be happy to do this for you on the Morning. Or If you want to schedule a second trial, I will happily arrange this for you if I’m available. This will be an extra fee as it’s a separate cost to the price quoted on your original booking.

Miscellaneous FAQs

I have sensitive skin. What products do you use?

I use a wide variety of products, ranging from the well-known over the counter brands including Charlotte Tilbury, Kevyn Aucoin, Nars

MAC, Laura Mercier, Yves St Laurent, Clinique and Estee Lauder. If your skin is especially sensitive, you should let me know beforehand so that I know what you can and cannot use. I can research and source the necessary products before the trial to suit you.

Are you open to using my makeup?

Yes of course if you want me too.

Especially for foundation if you know what one works best for your skin or if you have any products requests let me know and I’ll try and source them for you.

Do I have to purchase products?

No, not at all. If you ask about a product that I use on you of course I will let you know, but I am not selling any products. The only thing that will have to be bought is the lip colour that will need touching up on the day, but I’ll discuss this with you at your trial appointment or wedding day.

Do you have makeup for people of different ages?

Yes, all my makeups are age appropriate. I work on all sorts of clients and skin tones. I adapt the application of makeup to suit the age of my Clients and of course specific products for different skin types.

Do you cater for different skin tones?

Yes. I have worked with many different clients from all over the world. I have a comprehensive makeup kit which will cover a wide variety of different skin textures and tones.

I am thinking I might want extensions for my wedding what do you suggest?

Personally, I prefer working with clip-in extensions. Permanent extensions can be styled too, but they are not as easy to work with when styling.

I usually recommend clip-in extensions to my brides when they ask as they offer instant satisfaction and thanks to the seamless removal require almost no maintenance or upkeep. Plus, they are generally much more affordable than committing to the more permanent extensions options.

Extensions aren’t just handy for adding length and thickness, but they also help styles hold better, such as Curls or Hollywood waves so if your hair doesn’t usually hold a curl, I would say extensions are your best friend.

If you had made the purchase already, I suggest bringing your extension along to your trial. If you are undecided, I always suggest coming in and meeting Me first let me style your hair so you can get a better idea of the look you are hoping to achieve, and we can then discuss the options.
